hello...

Thanks for the tip on how to correctly set up my lesson plans. I fixed the links you said weren't working. I checked yours and all seem to be good except you don't need to link your PP and DS. Niether of them work, but I wouldn't worry about it b/c you only need to attach them to the site. As far as our concept map goes I have been working on it but just slightly in between classes. (sangren is the ONLY computer lab with Inspiration on it!) But, I get off of work tomorrow early so I am going there right after to finish it up! :) YAY! and then we will be done! I do think that we have enough "new material" on it. :)

quick q...

I went back and checked my lesson plans and they aren't working! I was wondering how you did it. I just went under tasks tream and linked the print preview page to our site....how did you do it? The front page looks great!! Nice work.

Website....

YAY! We're almost done!!

I have almost completed everything I need to do for our site...but here are a few things:

*On our resources page I was hoping to use my three from the Web Eval thing we had to do and your three as well. If you want to send me what sites you eval (basically what you turned in) and I will do the posting of them and what not

*also, I saw that the opening page of the site has to have GLCE's and what not listed. I have put up my lesson plans that I created on taskstream onto my page. Try to just copy and paste the ones I used in my lesson plans and then the ones you used in yours. I think this would be easiest. But if you are chosing to do another route let me know and I can help you find some standards that pertain to us! :)

*oh, last, I assume you will link the col. podcast b/c you are the one that turned it in (?) let me know! Have a good rest of the weekend :)

Team Website

So here it is, the home stretch. We have some time to set up the site, but I want to get a head start so we are not rushing at the end. I will set up a team gmail account and website and email you info.

We each will have at least 2 pages of our own, which I would assume we would attach our individual projects and such. We will also need to both incorporate some new info and ideas, including adding to our concept map...any ideas? I think we should add something about incorporating expert videoconferencing and virtual field trips connected to the "learn from expert that do it well".

Let me know if you have any ideas about the content/layout of the site. I can set up some bare bones in the next few days to build on.

Talk to you soon,
Lindsey

Podcast

Hey lindsey! I hope all is well (and warm) in AZ! I started thinking about our upcoming podcast that we have to do together. We have to talk for about 3-5 minutes. Humm...What do you think are some important things that we should say? Elearning says that we should write a script, but I think writing a few ideas down for each of us to discuss should be fine. If we both talk for about two minutes we should be good. Here are some ideas I was thinking about:
*Introducing us as teachers
*Intro to our idea
*Why we think it is important for kids to participate
*What it is exactally that we're doing
*What we hope the students will get out of it
*What future life skills the students will obtain
*So the students realize that one person DOES make a difference in the environment
*we hope they will support their children

Anything else you can think of?! I am hoping to get my section done ASAP I just have to figure out where to get a mic from on campus.

Here is our updated concept map. I know there are not many ideas on here that you (lindsey) did not say, but we seem to have similar lesson plans for our unit so all of my new ideas fit nicely into yours! sorry it took so long!

Collaborative Inspiration

Jamie~We also have to add to our concept map...my inspiration trial version has expired and I would assume yours has as well. I will email Prof. Peterson to see what she would recommend we do. I'm pretty sure we have to use the program to add to the map. Anyway, I thought we could add:

HOW-Sorting materials into bins:
  • cardboard
  • plastic
  • paper
  • aluminum
HOW- Everyone has a job/responsibility
  • sort
  • collect
  • deliver
  • conserve
HOW- Inspire school and community
  • student presentations
  • kick-off event
  • motivational speaker-expert?
These are just ideas. Let me know if you still have access to inspiration for the concept map, or if you have any ideas to add as well. Have a great day!

Lesson Plan 2: Data Collection

Hey Jamie!

I am assuming you are going to focus your lesson plan this week on the "classroom waste audit" idea from a few weeks ago. This project will fit perfectly with that. I am thinking of a project to tie in to the lesson on the importance of recycling that you did your power point on. The students will have to conduct a survey with peers, teachers, and community members of the top 3 reasons they feel it is important to recycle. From their data, a class could then generate a Letterman-style "Top Ten List." I think it could be fun for the students to then present it using movie-maker or something later. Let me know what you think.

Movie Maker

I am about to attempt to movie maker. I think that I am going to do it on the different roles/jobs that will need to be created to get their campaign started. :) Hope ours does not overlap at all.

Power Point

Hey Lindsey! I am going to do my power point on why we should recycle. I hope that isn't what you were thinking of doing :) have a good night..

Saturday, September 20, 2008

Hey! Um, I was thinking maybe 3-5?? Im not sure. Through e-mails with our proff I have decided to wait to use my idea for our next lesson plan in which we will have to do a lp with excel. So, this week I am going to do a LP with webquest on why recycling is important. The media specialist part I am going to do a webquest and a group Power point to present to the school as a part of the-kick off. I think this will be an okay idea. Either way!...I am happy all is OK with your blogging :) Have fun in AZ!

Lesson Plan Ideas

Hey Jamie, the compost bin is a great idea. I was thinking about opening it up to become a school-wide project. Each classroom could have their own mini-compost bin and it all could end up in a larger school pile/bin. Anyway, this will be a great start. I will work on a compost lesson that includes why/what things compose...and why/what things do not. Great idea! Oh, I was also wondering what grade level you were looking to focus your plan on. Should focus on the same age?

Lesson Plan Topic

Hey Lindsey-
I was thinking of doing an introduction into waste and recycling for our begining lesson plans...
I was thinking that I could do like a "classroom waste audit" and the kids would empty trash cans to see what really could have been recycled. Another idea would be to start a mini compost pile in the classroom to see what items will decompose and what won't. Those are just some ideas. I think that I will for sure use the classrom waste audit as my first lesson. If you wanted to use the other idea I think together they would make a great intro into this type of unit. Let me know what you think!
